WHAT IS LYMPHOMA

Lymphoma is a type of cancer which affects the cells of the lymphatic system known as white blood cells. It typically occurs when lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell found in the lymph nodes, grow and multiply uncontrollably, causing swelling of the lymph nodes.

There are many different types of lymphoma however, the two most common types are Hodgkin Lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Over 14,000 people are diagnosed with lymphoma each year in the UK making it the fifth most common cancer and the most common blood cancer with around 4,800 attributable deaths.

It is also the third most common cancer in children.
